Get to the POINT

Image
There is definitely a great feeling of relaxation after you get a body massage or even a facial. Perhaps, all the pressure points were stimulated in your massage session. So, stimulation of certain points in the body for those that can’t afford a massage simply makes sense especially when you want to take care of yourself, free of cost at home. When you have a headache, you often rub your forehead, press those our temples in pain automagically. Why not choose the correct pressure points and give it a try? This is really my understanding in acupressure points, disregarding the fancy names in Chinese medicine. The difference between breathing implicitly, putting breathing as a background task versus putting it in the forefront with a focused deep breathing provides instant stress relief and lowers blood pressure. This is another example of paying explicit attention to your sensory system, stimulate it, make it feel like it exists: because if you ...

It begins at home

The original meaning of “charity begins at home”  is to say kids learn charity in the home. I read the above in an online article. So true. The kids do absorb things quickly “from” home, whether you intended to include it in the curriculum or not. They look up to you, whether you realize it on time or not.  The stories you come up with at bed time become their mantras and foundations for a life time. The suble jokes you pass at home even if you don’t mean them “may” turn into a mean action by the one you’re being watched by “ always”. The kids bring the best in you.  Stories of diversity and inclusion belong in the toddler_bedtime 101 and all degrees of learning. Get creative. Pamper the lawn you seeded, take care of the weeds.  But, find the balance..take it easy too!

I can’t breathe

When you got two kids (or 20), as a parent you’d try your best be fair to all. You’d include every kid in anything. This is a simple example for “inclusion”, except you need to bring this quality to the limelight even if they are not your kids. It can be hard, not impossible to practice this.  Three steps for a start.  1. Hear them out.  2. React positively. 3.  Create opportunities for others to speak and for yourself to listen.  When someone says, “ I cannot breathe”, you hear them out, you react in ways to alleviate the pain, not the other way round.  If you can’t appreciate “Nine months in a womb” and “a beating heart”, the universe doesn’t appreciate your existence.  Stay well. Stay safe. Appreciate life.  Hearts that beat matter, not the transient gift wrap it comes with.  Awakenings can happen, without triggering an unfortunate situation.  (Post triggered by a recent inhuman tragedy on the news)

Balance the blend of emotions

When you practice "anything" (good or bad) for a while with voluntary reminders or a gentle-to-drastic push, it eventually becomes a habit- no reminders needed. Sometimes we do not even realize that certain habits grow to an extent that it creates a massive impact in your lives (and others'). Pause for a second.. Think of one habit you think has made you or your loved ones smile in some way or the other.  Think of one habit that has been annoying more than once. Remind yourself how old you are. I really want to give up doing (complex) math while responding to situations.  I want to incorporate some useful modules in life that they don't feel like an extra baggage.  Anxiety, weakness, judgements, truth, diplomacy, equivocation, double standards..... tiring.   Time to balance emotions intelligently and quite naturally.  Mindful meditation Day #1, 29 more to go.  Good Morning everyone.

Mission Prioritize

We don’t hesitate a bit to give up things that normal people wouldn’t dare give up— for the family, more specifically for the  moppets (and puppies— No discrimination in terms of the number of legs either!) We find it hard, but not impossible to manage multiple hats (sometimes because we think we need to). But, we can only win in one realm in reality.  There is a win that it is identified globally.  There is that win that goes unsung.  We don’t get award plaques. But, we are the very reason for the numerous recognitions your other half and kid (will) receive.  Do we choose to be unsung? Do we blame it on the historical way of things being conducted? Are we really saint-ish? Are we that insane?  Perhaps, we are? We are moms.   Priorities shift, the mission may vary, the vision that defines you doesn’t.  Believe in yourself and bounce back as the precious bundle of joy evolves.  Your little one will admire (and le...

That bubble....

Life inside a bubble felt safer, comfortable and reasonable.... though it’s taken a toll to not burst it deliberately. This is not (just) because I was a saint, but we knew it the hard way. Home schooling is somewhat a natural form of school, you know your kid the way you should. You see his or her potential more clearly. You make sure your kid doesn’t start practising a 9-5 routine, especially when they are too little and fragile— how much ever crazy they drive you. However, 90% of human Brain development takes place by the time you turn five. Thus, in my perspective, though painful, anything significantly new (and good, possibly needed for the future years) should be introduced by the fifth birthday. Not sure if I want to walk the talk.  To thrive, academia isn’t the key. Academia at a young age is absolutely overrated. There is a reason for this, in the previous generations. I won’t get to it now. But, shaping an individual that is equipped enough to identify the key is the most...
