Memory Lane

Whatever be the heights of stress, listening to beloved Dr. M.S Subbulakshmi Amma's Kurai Ondrum illai" would just make me feel God with tears of joy. So many hurdles in life at every stage, be it a little one weeping for a candy .. or a school kid weeping all day either for missing her "A" grade or for having messed her school speech.. or a high school girl tossing a coin every minute to see if her love would be reciprocated .. or a frustrated woman losing her job on turning a quarter century ........
It feels so good to think that "the next minute is just a minute away" when we are really uncomfortable in some situations in life. But the moments we treasure in life? We probably cannot freeze that moment or order the clock to stay where it is. Neverthless, we can always move down the memory lane and grab those smiles.

" The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.. "
Kurai Ondrum illa Kanna's pallavi in shiva ranjani for you.

P.S : Not to forget that this song is one of my family favorites.

excellent. To my untrained ear the video of M.S Subbulakshmi reminds me of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, another devotional singer, at least in musical arrangement.
Matthew, you are so right. Skipping the lyrical content of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's and M.S Subbulakshmi's songs, the resemblance lies in the beauty of the raga Shivaranjani.
